Letters hit on good points
Letters hit on good points
I loved the “My Turn” in the Nov. 14 editorial section. Janice Palma-Glennie apparently has an excellent way of telling it like it really is. However, calling and/or telling the Republican senators and the president that you don’t like what they’re doing may not accomplish their actually doing something that is morally right.
We who are voters in Hawaii are not the constituents of most of the Republicans in Congress. In fact, are there actually any Republican Congresspeople who represent any of us here in this state?
I also have to agree almost wholeheartedly with Charlie Webb’s letter in the same section, especially after reading the article about the president appointing white men (no women?) as judges within the federal court system. However — are all those white men racists and/or sexists? Probably not, but only time will tell how many of them actually practice the principles within the United States Constitution, which they must follow.

Big Island Divers made trip special
We would like to thank Big Island Divers for their superb support of our first Sierra Club Service Trip to Kona. They supplied dive and snorkel gear to all of our participants, and took us on four boat dives to orient us to Kona diving, the attendant needs of the aquatic creatures, and our cleanup of the Kiholo ponds.
Thanks for their good humor, professional expertise and unfailing generosity over our entire week on island. We will be back.

Hard to respect Trump
I find it ironic to the point of humor that some of your readers are willing to cut off their link with the community when they truly need a dose of Trumpless news.
Respect Trump, sure. I respect him because he has become one of the four horsemen! Turn your back on our environment in the name of greed. Spread racism like reasonable people can’t see it. Shrink our protected areas so his followers can pollute and drain our resources. Boldly go into the international community and flip-flop his beliefs to kiss butt.
I don’t think we need to respect anyone hell bent on ruining our environment and credibility as passionately as Trump does. The facts are delivered to us hourly.
Just what exactly are we all supposed to respect? Not in my lifetime. “There are a lot of nice Nazis out there.” His mouth is a mirror to what’s inside — nothing my God would respect.
